Install

Install and first launch

Apex GP is an independent release. Software that is not signed with a paid developer certificate makes Windows and macOS show a warning the first time it runs. If you see one, this is what to do.

Windows

  1. Download the Windows file from the card above. If it is a .zip, right-click it and choose Extract All, so you run the game from a normal folder and not from inside the archive.
  2. Open the folder and double-click the game.
  3. If you see Windows protected your PC (Microsoft Defender SmartScreen), click More info, then Run anyway.
  4. Graphics: Apex GP uses Vulkan, or Direct3D 12 if Vulkan is not available. If the game closes straight away, see black screen or crash at start-up.

macOS

  1. Download the Mac file from the card above, open it, and move the app into your Applications folder. Run it from there, not from Downloads.
  2. Open the app. If macOS says it cannot check the app for malicious software, choose Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, click Open Anyway and enter your password. The button appears for about an hour after you try to open the app.
  3. If macOS says the app is damaged, or Open Anyway never appears, remove the quarantine flag in Terminal. The exact command is in the support guide.

Linux

  1. Download the Linux file from the card above. If it is an archive, extract it.
  2. Make the game executable and run it from a terminal, so any start-up messages are visible: 
    chmod +x ./YOUR-FILE

  3. You need a GPU driver with Vulkan support. Check with vulkaninfo --summary. Install commands for Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora and Arch are in the support guide.

Requirements

What your computer needs

Apex GP runs on the Godot 4.7 engine. On desktop it uses the engine’s Forward+ renderer, which needs a GPU and driver with modern graphics API support. These are the engine’s published minimums for that renderer.

By default the engine tries Vulkan on Windows and falls back to Direct3D 12 if Vulkan is not available. On macOS it uses Metal, and on Linux it uses Vulkan (Godot 4.7 project-settings reference).

No frame-rate promises. We have not measured Apex GP on a range of hardware, so we do not publish minimum or recommended specs or fps figures. What we can say: the game has five quality presets, from Low to Max, and an Optimise now button that tests your machine and picks the best preset that holds 60 fps.

Android

The Android app is 64-bit ARM only. The Godot 4.7 documentation asks for Android 9.0 or newer and a GPU with Vulkan 1.0 support for the renderers Apex GP uses. The install is about 200 MB.

Verify

Check your download

When a download card shows a SHA-256 checksum, you can confirm the file is intact by computing the same checksum on your computer and comparing the two.
